IWAKI MDM Magnetic drive centrifugal pump

Chemical Process Pump MDM from Iwaki with ETFE and PFA as standard

Features of the Iwaki MDM magnetic drive centrifugal pump

In the selection of standard materials, Iwaki uses high-purity PFA and CFRETFE. Due to the pure fluoroplastics, Iwaki MDM magnetically driven centrifugal pumps are ideal for pumping high purity chemicals, acids and alkalis. The MDM centrifugal pumps are equipped with a contact-free system and a self-cooling construction, which ensures frictionless operation and a long service life. The MDM process pumps cover delivery volumes up to 84 m³/h and a delivery head of 74 m. In addition to the high-density carbon bearings, the CF type is particularly resistant to tarnishing in the front and rear part of the pump housing in contrast to normal plastic centrifugal pumps.

The MDM Iwaki Pump Series
ensures excellent durability

The outer housing is reinforced by die-cast components. Due to the high loads, the rear housing is provided with a fibre-reinforced cover. In addition to the higher strength, the effect of the rotating magnetic field is reduced. Should contact with the magnet capsule occur, sparking is impossible. In addition, the magnet capsule unit is reinforced with a metal core to achieve a higher resistance to vibrations.

Chemical process pump with extendable construction

In the case of the base type, the construction, which can be pulled out to the rear, allows internal parts to be checked and replaced without disconnecting the pipework. The simple modular design allows for easy maintenance and minimum downtime. Most service activities can be carried out without leakage.

Improved dry running properties due to non-contact mechanism

The wetted parts of the MDM series are made exclusively of high-quality fluoroplastics. Pure PFA and CFRETFE are the standard materials of construction. Applications range from pumping acids and alkalis to high purity chemicals for semiconductor manufacturing.

The MDM series has a unique non-contact mechanism that significantly improves the dry-running properties and the service life of the pumps (non-contact system) (PAT.) The high magnetic force of the rare earth magnets prevents contact between the magnet capsule and the thrust ring of the rear housing. This prevents melting of the fluoroplastic parts through heat generation. This considerably improves the dry running properties compared to conventional plastic centrifugal pumps.

Remark:
Only the CF version, with high-density carbon bearings, can withstand dry running. With the KK version, SiC bearings, dry running is not possible.

Two construction materials available ETFE and PFA as standard

The MDM chemical process pump series is build with carbon fiber reinforced ETFE (CFR-ETFE) and PFA components wich can cover most applications. PFA as a pure, unfilled material does not cause any contamination and is therefore ideal for conveying high purity chemicals. Various mounting configurations allow it to handle aggressive and high purity applications.
Notes: Standard pump design is only available in PFA.

Excellent, long-lasting structure

The plastic parts are completely encased in a moulded casting. Due to the high load to which the rear housing is subjected, it is supported by an additional fibre-reinforced housing cover. This gives the pump excellent stability without affecting the magnetic field in any way. Should contact with the magnetic capsule occur, sparking is impossible and a high safety standard can be guaranteed. Rear-extensible system The rear-extensible design allows both inspection and replacement of internal parts without having to disconnect the piping. The simplified, modular design of the pump allows easy maintenance with minimum downtime. Most service activities can thus be carried out without leakage. (only possible for pumps with base plate.
